Sri Lanka has no adult-content age-verification law, social-media minor-access restriction, app-store age-verification requirement, or age-appropriate design code.

The Online Safety Act, No. 9 of 2024 establishes an Online Safety Commission and criminalises the online communication of specified false and harmful statements, and its section 21 makes any person who, by means of an online account or online location, commits or aids and abets an act upon a child that constitutes an offence under listed Penal Code provisions (obscene publication relating to children, procuring or hiring children for sexual purposes, sexual exploitation, trafficking, rape, incest, and grave sexual abuse among them) liable to the punishment the Schedule to that Act sets for each such offence.

That section extends existing Penal Code child sexual abuse and exploitation offences to online communication of them; it does not impose an age-verification, age-gating, or minor-access duty on an internet intermediary, a social media platform, an app store, or a device maker, and none of the Act's other provisions does either.
