A public record of age-verification and age-gating law
AgeGating is the age-verification and age-gating law member of the UnGovr Oversight family. It records who is required to verify a user's age, in what context, and what the law's status is: proposed, enacted, in force, enjoined, struck down, repealed, or superseded, plus the litigation history behind each contested law.
It is an observatory, not a campaign. The record documents statutes and their status; readers draw their own conclusions.
Four families of law
- Adult content
- Who is required to verify age before showing adult content?
- Social media
- What may minors do on social platforms, and with whose consent?
- App stores and devices
- Where is verification pushed to the app store or the device?
- Design codes
- What design duties do services owe users they know are minors?
