National jurisdiction · as of 2026-09-04

Ethiopia has not enacted an adult-content age-verification, social-media minor-access, app-store age-verification, or age-appropriate design code statute.

The Ministry of Women and Social Affairs has completed a draft Integrated Child Law consolidating scattered child-protection provisions from criminal, civil, labor, and family statutes into a single instrument, and its drafters describe it as addressing cyberbullying, online grooming, and technology-facilitated harm to children alongside its central provision outlawing corporal punishment; as of the date below the draft has not been enacted as a numbered proclamation, and its published description addresses conduct against a child rather than an age-verification or age-gating duty imposed on an online service.

The Computer Crime Proclamation No. 958/2016 separately criminalizes illegal computer content data, which reaches unlawful content generally, but it imposes no age-verification or age-gating duty on a service provider.
